Yes, syndicate from 1993 by Bullfrog... i miss that game, it was really ahead of its time.

Anyone got this running on an xp machine?

One might suggest emulation. Not sure if Dosbox is up to the task, but the Amiga-version of Syndicate was rather good, and should work well with WinUAE.

I have it running on DosBox 0.72 using the D.O.G frontend. I had no problem with Populous/Populous II either. The only Bullfrog game that gives me problems is Theme Park...it just runs way too fast, even with CPU cycle tweaks.

Bullfrog was the shiznit back in the early 90's. Syndicate was one of my favorite games back in my old Mac Performa days. I hope you figure out how to run it.

There was a Win95 version of the game, I'll see if I can find a link to it. (It was the sequel though, before Bullfrog got bought out.) I should try to find my original Syndicate game and I will try it out on DosBox for you.

edit: It seems I was wrong. While I remember running it on Windows 95, it seems like it was written for DOS. Syndicate Wars was the name of the sequel I was talking about.

Thanks for the help guys - IIRC it was a better game than half the crap released today. I'm just feeling some nostalgia and i knew you guys were the right source to seek help :)

I remember going back through the game and trying to win each level without being seen or firing a shot. My favorite was the one where you have to kill the mayor or governor or something in an armed convoy. I would take 3 disguise devices (can't remember what they were called) and two bombs. I would place the bombs in the street where the car would go, and blow them when he drove over them. He dies, and no-one whould even see me as I walked away.

Good times, except I was young when I played it and always cheated. Nothing beat a loadout of 2 or 3 gauss guns and 2 mini-guns for close encounters. It sure brought out the 'genocider' in me though... Were we suppose to minimize civie kills?

God you bring back some memories there....

I recall playing the hell out of this game...I got as far as one of the last levels I think...I had mini-guns across the board with all my guys but couldn't for the life of me get past the level...

there was just TOO many bad guys coming at me...

I might have to find this game and relive the memories!!!

EDIT:
Here is a nice link with the actual game...and some DOSbox settings I guess...

Syndicate

I will have to try it out maybe tonight

http://syndicate.lubie.org/

lot of stuff here, I remember how much of a bitch it was sometimes when there was a guy you had to kill or brainwash inside a building and you couldn't tell exactly where he was so you had to just walk around with the brainwashing thing inside the building guessing in a corner
