Syncronizing .pst files and documents Issues...

Here's the setup:

-Win2K Pro desktop (all the latest fixes, patches, sp2, etc.)
-Win2K Pro Dell Laptop (" ")
-Plugged into Netgear RT314
-TCP/IP, NetBEUI, File/Printer Sharing, and Client For MS Networks install on both.
-Both have static 192.168 addresses.

What I would like to do is, syncronize at least the documents (it appears to be working) and my Outlook 2000 .pst file between the two. So, has anyone done this with success? I assume that you just share the folder which your .pst file is in and set it up as an offline folder? Or is there a better way of doing this.

Addtionally, I would like to setup my ma's the same way, but she uses Pegasus mail, do you think I could just do the same thing?

And is there another way to utiltize this built-in syncronization (Offline Files) without setting up a MS Share of the folder/file you want the two to sync with? Security wise, the less shares the better...

Thanks!

Only way I can think of:
1) Figure out which .pst file you want to use as your base.
2) On the tower create a folder called "Whatever", share it, put that .pst in in
3) On the laptop, tell Outlook to point to the .pst in the shsre you just created
4) Use Synchronization Manager on Laptop to make file available offline, and set it to synch to whatever pleases you

I do know when doing this, you will not be able to open the .pst from theat the same time from both PC's while they're connected to your network.

In other words, no I don't know of any other way than what you already thought of.

When trying to use a .pst as an Offline File this may prove of some use.
Error Message: Files of This Type Cannot Be Made Available Offline (Q252509)

Personally I would just share it, make sure my permissons are set correctly and access the file itself from the other computer. Trying to sync a .pst file accross a LAN or WAN can get time consuming IMO once it starts to grow. You also have to remember to update it in one location before you use it in the other because if you change both, information in one is ultimatley going to be lost unless you manually open both and transfer the information yourself through Outlook, .pst files cannot be merged.
