There are several apps that can do this but the easy way is to simply use one PST file for both the laptop and desktop.
For Example:
Let's say you installed outlook on the laptop first then import or create your email accounts. Then you install outlook on your Desktop and attach the laptop to your network with a router ( I'm assuming you have a home network ). Then when you open outlook, instead of creating new accounts you click new outlook data files and find that PST file on the laptop.
This works for me cause I don't use the laptop and desktop and the same time, otherwise you will need to find software that syncs the two.
WOW, a reply, I never expected that

and yes I think it would be doable to keep the data file on the lapptop and use it over lan, tehre will be a dedicated connection between the two (just between my Pc and the laptop) because I also intend to use the laptop's screen as secondary monitor, (with an app I forgot the name of)
do you know of any syncronisation software tho ? because that might be easier to use, and make for less errors (the laptop will not always be connected to the lan)
So long as you close Outlook on the Desktop machine and then disconnect the Laptop it would work fine.
Otherwise you would need to use a different way:
1. Install Outlook on the Desktop machine
2. Go to mail accounts and click "new outlook data file" make sure to name it laptop.pst save it in the folder on the Desktop.
3. Change where the email gets deliver to from the drop down box **important**.
4. Close Outlook on the desktop machine
5. Find the folder the pst file is stored in on the laptop and maybe create a shortcut on the it's desktop for easy access. Open the folder and drag the Outlook.pst file from the laptop to the folder on the Desktop Machine. There should now be two files in the folder one called outlook.pst and one called laptop.pst, change the name of the laptop.pst to something like laptop.pst.old and then rename the outlook.pst to laptop.pst
6. Open outlook on the desktop machine and all your new mail is there
You can delete laptop.pst.old or back it up, I usually rar mine with the 'best' compression ratio cause it shrinks it down one tenth the size and date it 05.08.04.rar, after a awhile you will need to delete them if you copy it over once per day.
PS: They do make software that does this but it's also known to corrupt the pst files so I really stayed away from it, plus it cost more money.
PSS: If you need a visual guide I can put one up.
