SyncMaster 570v TFT sudden problem

I've had my Samsung SyncMaster 570v TFT for about a year now, and all of the sudden i woke up the other day and the picture looks really bad. Theres horizontal streaking from anything white on the screen and black things are all drowned out. I have reinstalled software and come to the conclusion that it must be a hardware problem, but i just dont know what would cause this. Maybe someone could shed some light. Anyway, I will return it to samsung for a replacement, but I'd like to knowwhy this happened in the first place so it wont happen again.
