Syncing files across network.

Windows 7 64-bit on one PC, XP on the other.

I want to sync a pictures folder on the Windows 7 PC to an external hard drive on it. Then have the XP machine sync with the external drive on the 7 machine.

What's the best way to go about this? Auto-Syncing.....Also use Picasa 3 on both PCs.

Also do I have file sharing setup correct? The XP machine has to enter the Admin name and password on the 7 machine to access any files.

Thanks.

Windows Live Sync works great. You don't need any sort of login setup between the machines. They'll automatically find each other on the LAN or you can even sync over the internet. Also, it works on Windows or Mac.

You have to set up the sharing system to work smoothly and then choose whatever method you want to Sync. with.

There are many Sync. applications (many are free).

The top two (not free) are Beyond Compare, and Vice Versa

Read their Data sheet look at their features and it will give you a frme of refernce to make a decision that suits you.
