Synchronizing laptop and desktop

I want to sycn ms outlook on both PCs. I know there's ways to copy the .pst file over automatically but what that does is just copy... not sync. There will be times when i add something on my laptop in the calender and then change and appointment on my desktop. There has to be a way to actually synchronize this. Can anyone help me here?

in a non-corporate/enterprise edition of outlook, under tools, there should be a synchronize other computer option.

if, for whatever reason, you are running an enterprise edition outlook, you need to manually create a new send/receive group and synchronize it with your other machine since corporate outlook assumes you're using an exchange server.

I have outlook 2000 on my desktop and office xp on my laptop and don't see what you are talking about in either programs.

Is there no program like activesync that will work with laptops and desktops?

they should be under tools.

LBE makes software designed to sync outlook mailboxes
The New laplink will do this too IIRC, but don't quote me on laplink

I can't remember 100%, but I think win2k still also has the briefcase utility which was designed to synchronize files and updates easily.

There is the synchronize offline files option which is designed to update frequently updated files. Just tell the laptop to use the networked file when both machines are connected via lan and then highlight "Make this file available offline". When you want to update the laptop, there will be a synchronize files option in your systray which you run whenever you're connected.
