I have an external hard drive which I connect to my laptop while at my desk in my dorm room.

Every few days, I like to copy all the new and modified files from several select folders on my laptop to my external hard drive; when complete, I would like for the selected folders on each drive to be identical. (This is not a two-way process though; the laptop is the only drive which will have new or modified files.)

I'm just having trouble finding something that does this, for some odd reason.

Recommendations for something simple like this (outside of batch files)?

The problem with command line is that, when copying/overwriting, it doesn't check when a file's last been updated--at least as far as I know.

Or does it?

using xcopy with the /d command only copies over if the date is newer
