Came across this surfing on slashdot this morning. Synapse.
It's an MP3 player with some _really_ cool new playlist-type features. First, it has the best media library system I've ever seen. You give it a list of directories to search, then it automatically chooses the most appropriate artist/title combination out of the filename, idv1 and idv2 tags.Next, it's standard playlist has a "postpone" feature. Cool song come on your multi-thousand entry playlist but you don't want to hear it just yet? Postpone will move it back an entry. It also has a "playmap" in addition to the standard playlist. Think of a playlist where each song could randomly branch to one of 2 or 3 other songs. But it's coolest feature is undoubtedly the "brain". It's an algorithm that watches what songs you play, how often you play them, and in what order you play them. Then when it has enough data you can activate it and it will play random songs, but instead of just using a random number generator, it uses the information it collected about your playing habits to choose songs. I think winamp has finally been dethroned (on my system, anyways).
