Sympatex vs. Goretex

Hey guys, I want to buy a new winter/water-proof jacket that's breathable and was thinking of a Goretex, but my dad has some mountain-climbing friends who've climbed McKinley and say Sympatex is better so he agrees with them and won't change his mind, thus I'm trying to look for some evidence on the net to prove him wrong, but I can't find anything. Is Sympatex actually better then GoreTex, or is my dad just taken for a fool?

Never heard of Sympatex so I don't really know, sorry. Goretex sounds better though

I thought it was Goretenn which, of course, is much better than Bushtex.
