Symantec AV Corp Edition: shield in tray has "!" over it: what does this mean?

Hi all. The shield icon for Symantec AV has an exclamation point (!) over it. I went in looked at the logs, check the Help file and couldn't find any references to it.

The auto scan didn't run last night like it always has. I ran a manual scan; it found nothing.

What's this mean?

Hey bud. :)

Nope. Unlike when Norton System Works' subscription runs out and you get the message "your subscription for virus definitions has expired" Symantec Corp Edition just goes straight thru to their servers.

It does the check and I get the "your definitions are up to date." My AV defs are dated 14 May 2003.

a) Autoprotect is probably disabled
b) Why are you running the corp version, isn't that a bit of overkill for your home machine?

I'm actually running consumer here so the ap question was from memory, I can double check on Monday (however) if you don't figure it out.

Thanks, I appreciate your help. I need to leave for work; don't have time to mess w/it right now. Later. :)

AP is often disabled at bootup for me. It's enabled once my system is done loading stuff.

Bump.

I just checked it again. The "!" is still there, and the auto-scan did not run last night. Auto-protect is ENABLED. I don't get it.

The ! means that the NAV service is disabled. (This how machines with corporate NAV with ability to change settings locked out get set for "I need to get something done on this machine" mode).
