Sylvester Stallone says he used human growth hormone to get buff for the new "Rambo" movie, and defends its use.

"HGH (human growth hormone) is nothing," the 61-year-old actor tells Time magazine in its Feb. 4 issue. "Anyone who calls it a steroid is grossly misinformed."

Because it is nearly undetectable, HGH has become a substance of great concern in major league baseball and other sports battling allegations of rampant doping.

"Testosterone to me is so important for a sense of well-being when you get older," he says. "Everyone over 40 years old would be wise to investigate it because it increases the quality of your life. Mark my words. In 10 years it will be over the counter."

Does HGH make you stupid?

Does HGH make you stupid?

Question: Why does it matter? Why the hell should you or anyone else care if he uses HGH.

I can understand the Grand Jury going after people who lied about using it because it's perjury, but who cares who uses it!

Models get implants and plastic surgery all the time. It?s really no different than him using HGH to get buff for a movie.

I can't understand the perjury angle either. Why was a grand jury asking in the first place? What a pathetic misuse of congressional powers.

Dang it, Rambo was a role models for generations of would be psycho killers. Now he goes and admits drug use. All my ideals are crushed.

Agreed. We've got a an illegal war running, deficits through the roof, a run amok loon in the White House; I know, let's haul in a bunch of thick-necked jocks for silly hearings. Maybe we can get their autographs.

It may or may not be a misuse, but you can't knowingly lie under oath and then not expect the consequences when it's found out you were lying.

I think it?s a stupid witch hunt also. MLB never cared and knew because it was bringing the sport to the limelight and generating billions of dollars. Sammy , Mark and Barry helped the sport grow. They were all jacked up on the Clear and other things. But MLB turned a blind eye.

I don't really see the problems. In sports it's a big deal because it gives players an unfair advantage, but if he's just buffing up for a movie who cares. It doesn't effect anybody but himself, and if he likes shrunken testicles or whatever other side effects these drugs have then more power to him. 😀

HGH use is absolutely fine if your profession doesn't ban the substance.

The OP has been reading too many tabloids.

The difference here is that HGH isn't a banned substance in Hollywood movie making.

Not that I encourage anyone to use it... 😉

Not much is known about the long term effect of HGH to the human body. Does it increase the possibility of cancer? Everyone has cancer cells in his body, and HGH promotes cell growth... Does anyone want to take a chance just so he can feel young again?

HGH has fewer (and less severe) side effects than most drugs advertised on TV. No evidence has been found linking it to an increased risk of cancer.

Has anyone considered that using HGH may affect your judgement as to whether you should have used HGH?
Anyway, would you really like to explain to your kid who has just seen Rambo 4 that its ok for a movie star to use a drug illegally (its illegal to prescribe or take hgh for non-approved purposes, like getting buff for a movie) but not ok for your kid to take hgh or mayby 'roids?
Whether Sly really believes what he said, saying it was stupid.

HGH doesn't do that.

It's your responsibility to raise your kid, not Rambos.

Which is why you should not take your kid to see Rambo 4.

Too many, unfortunately. 🙁 I saw little kids at the Rob Zombie remake of Halloween.
