SyGate problems.

Okay. I have two computers, one with two NICs in it going to the cable modem and to the hub, and the other has one NIC going to the hub. I'm running SyGate 4.0 and have everything set up. The NIC going to the modem has the IP, gateway, and dns stuff from my ISP. The NIC going to the hub has the IP and subnet mask for the internal network. However, SyGate refuses to start, all I get is an error message telling me to check the troubleshooting section which does no good at all. Both of the NICs will work on their own in with the cable modem to access the internet so its not a problem with the NICs. Can anyone help?

Sounds to me like you've got another program that is conflicting with Sygate causing the error. Try disabling some of your other start up items and see if that helps.

Can someone just run me through the steps of getting SyGate 4.0 running with 2 NICs in Win2K Pro over a cable modem? This is driving me insane.

There is really no steps you need to take to get sygate running... to me it's one of the easiest NAT program to setup... all I need to do is setup the network, then install sygate on the server PC and it works... minimal configuration required...

However I dont think your problem is because of configuration in sygate...

If you have win2k, you dont need a 3rd party NAT software anyways... just use windows ICS that already comes with win2k... You can search for ICS in help section of windows to get instructions on how to set it up...

I have two comps on my network using sygate 4.0 and have no trouble. It sounds like you may have another sharing program running. Did you install Microsoft sharing or another protocal besides tcp/ip? I don't use a hub for two comps, just another component to buy. Try a crossover cable and get rid of the hub. Check your installed protocals and make sure you dont have the wrong ones..

well ..when you setting up your sygate, did you let your internet connection on? If you are using dialup internet connection, you must dial up before you setting up your sygate and let sygate detect your connection.
