I picked this up last month - but I think this is even a better deal. good way to use all those left over components laying around - Only problem, havn't found a hot deal on the P4 processor :-(

Yes, there are no P4 deals. Ever.
Although compared to Intel prices, AMD's are always a better deal.

ah ha! finally something to use with this 2.53 533fsb chip I have laying around collecting dust. Only thing is this says it only suppurts up to pc2100, hmm wonder if it'll take some 2700 and just run it under-clocked..? ...anyone know? I am strictly an AMD guy.

I was thinking of buying a SFF barebones system from egg, but this would sure be a lot cheaper since I already have a bunch of cases etc etc.

Micro Center has a pretty good combo deal offer on a Celeron 2.8GHz when purchased with the SY-P4VGM. The Celeron 2.8GHz sells for around $100 elsewhere, but its $60 when purchased with this board. After the $50.00 rebate, the total is around $75 ~ $80 (depending on your sales tax and shipping), which is actually somewhat of a Hot Deal.

i went ahead and ordered one for in-store pickup. saved shipping at least, but had to pay tax.

I bought the processor and motherboard at microcenter. I also purchased a Centon 256mb stick of pc2100 for $39 after rebate ($59 before), but when I opened it, the stick was actually pc2700. It worked fine with the motherboard and procfessor, so at least with the Centon memory, the motherboard can run it at 2100.

On another note, I also got the XP home oem version for $99 with this - was that a good deal?

Also, I found out that Microcenter (in Atlanta at least) has used floppy and cd-rom drives for $6 and $10, respectively. I already had a spare cd-rom drive, so I didn't purchase one and forgot to ask what speed they were. They weren't on display, but one of the salesmen told me about them. Considering this will be a backup machine and one that my daughter (4 1/2) can play her games on, that worked out pretty well for me. Saved me a few extra bucks.

I'm looking to build an ultra-cheap system. What is the cheapest celly that will go in this?

Since mobo and cpu have to go together what would be a comprable amd combo and the cost? Remember soyo has onboard audio/video and ethernet.

Anyone?
