i have a SX835II & it has front usb. is there such a thing as a usb1 and usb2 plug? i have usb2 on my mb and when i hook up the case wires, win2k says unrecognized device.; i will buy a front usb2 kit if can't get it to woirk but i dont want my case to loikik like . hope to get the builtin case usb to work first.
 
I had similar problem with my case, it's the cable, needs to be USB 2.0.....I called Antec Tech Support and they sent me a new front panel.
 
check and make sure you have the pins connected right. If you get D+ and D- mixed up, you will get that error.

All (modern) motherboards that I know of use the same pinout for external USB ports, regardless if they are 1.1 or 2.0. The front panel doesn't have any electronics, but it is possible that it may have bad solder points at the pins.
 
As trashman said, USB 2.x needs shielded cables - lots of cases used ordinary ribbon cable for the USB 1 ports. If you can get a replacement from Antec, go for it!
