See the 400 Watt description (and good price)? Nope...it's a 350W job (PP352X). Still has the two fans, etc...

To save shipping costs on a 1030B, I drove 5 minutes to the one in town and picked it up. I was torn between this one and a blue model with a 350W Enermax (refurb'd from Component Authority)....the mail-in rebate and 400W PSU cinched the deal for me but, it's NOT what they advertised. I spoke with the manager there and asked for an additional 10% off, etc...no dealing on this item allowed. Still, the price with rebate is very competitive.

Fine, now I've got a couple of questions...

How is the Antec PP352X compared to the Enermax EG365P-VE(FC)? Both deliver 350W but only the Enermax model is on AMD's approved list.

I plan on running an AMD 1800+ 56X CD-Rom, 16-24x cdrw, TWO 7200 rpm drives, 2 sticks of 256 meg Crucial DDR RAM. (fairly standard setup these days, no?)

Overclocking a new GF3 Ti200 is going to be a must. The CPU...dunno yet. Fans will be swapped with low noise Panaflows for the case/drive bay.

CompUSA is so close, it's no hassle to return it if I need to...should it stay or should it go?
 
it's CUSA's fault. Th 35 in 1035b connotes a 350w power supply. Antec makes a 1040 version with a 400w, etc... As far as quality I don't know, but it isn't on the list from AMD
 
Id guess theres no problem running it even if it isnt on AMD's recommendation list. Antec makes very good power supplys, probaly with tighter voltyage control than enermax, but the 350w is a relitivally new power supply, so AMD might not have gotten around to testing it yet.
 
Antec makes high quality powersupplies, and will power your system just fine.
 
Hey, great news...guru concensus says keep it...I'm keepin' it. 🙂

Only worry I had...with the gear I'm throwing into it, I'll max out my wattage requirements at 288 +/- 20% (found the excel link in another thread...nifty).

That +20% puts me at 344 possible max load on this 350W PSU (worse case scenario). MTBF on this unit is something like 50K hours at max load...should be alrighty.
