Hadn't seen this mentioned yet...thought I'd share. This was pretty much inevitable, but I'm stoked.

If you’ve been following the news coming out of the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ panel at Comic-Con International, you’ve heard the announcement that we will indeed have Space Combat as part of the TOR experience! But what does that mean? Space combat is an alternative gameplay experience to the primary game of storytelling, questing, and ground-based combat. In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various “hot spots” on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars™ space battles.

I hope it turns out well, but I'm pretty damn excited. It's like they are taking everything that good about MMOs and the Star Wars franchise and polishing it and including it. Now if they can have multiple players on the same ship manning turrets while someone flies. Would be epic.

They need to stop trying to do so much at once. Save something like that for an expansion and focus on it once the main game is finished to do it right.

They will end up making everything generic and bland if they do not focus on a small core of really good gameplay concepts, unless EA allows them a decade to develop it and provide unlimited funding.

:( I'm still ticked its an MMO. You just can't tell a story like KOTOR was able to tell in an MMO environment.

KOTOR was an EPIC RPG.

They've been developing the game for a very long time. And you can only put so many developers on a project before it simply becomes wasteful. There's a point of diminishing returns. So why not diversify and work on as many things as you have developers for?

You seem to assume that they have a shortage of talented people to work on this stuff. This is BioWare after all and they are pretty well stocked.

Now if only people could pool their finances together in a guild and purchase a large cruiser.

I really want this game to work please be good and please don't end up like WOW, Aion, EQ2, AOC, SWG, Star trek online, champions online, city of hero's, auto assult, lineage 1 & 2 or shadowbane with light sabers. Sigh but somehow I know it will game companies are just too good at hype.
