About the only new information is, that Bioware will be keeping this in mind when doing new content as with the Shadow of Revan expansion, those options are there as well

That's interesting and a bit odd, because if you mean those weird bits of awkward interaction with those contacts in the Revan expansion, that seemed to me more meant to embarrass or coerce them into cooperating rather than to pick them up. That sure wasn't very convincing or immersive to get a pass for gay role playing content. And it sure isn't the gay Makeb they promised that I was looking for.

I really wish we could get a "Necro" tag or something similar added to title of thread when this happens. I got 2/3 of the way down the page before realizing it was a >2 year old topic.

You have same-sex flirting options in the expansions.

You do not have opposite-sex flirting options in the expansions.

It doesn't make much sense from a RP perspective, since your character is (probably, since that was the only option) already in a married heterosexual relationship by that point, and had no same-sex flirt options previously.

It would be one thing if you had both choices from the get-go, but this is just kind of half-assed.

Seems to happen a lot in other forms of sci-fi/fantasy. "We have a gay character because corporate said so. Look, a gay person! Let's point it out again! Good. Now, we'll kill them to make drama for the established heterosexual characters!"

BioWare is the biggest offender in the "gay because it's cool" crap. Mass Effect really pissed me off because you had two options for your gay crew member who just lost his husband: you either tell him to stfu and are a complete dick OR you try and sleep with him... You don't get to just be a nice, not sexual attracted to him captain. It is like they only think interacting with homosexuals has two response: love or hate.

I stopped playing SWTOR once it went F2P, so did my 400+ member guild and we moved onto Guild Wars 2 when it happened. When I read "going pay to gay" I thought it was a rant against "pay to win" but nope, an actual gay planet. lol

the original game had no same gender flirt options, the new planet from 2013 had a same gender flirt option (which was very irrelevant and small), male-male only for imperial side and female-female or male-female for republic... I don't see why anyone cares about it to be honest... after the first expansion all the other new stuff had on it...
and it happened because the original game had no same gender flirt options and some people complained, adding "gay romance" to the old content would be to complicated and adding the new planet for free also would make no sense at that point...

oh and F2P saved this game, it still going because of it and received 2 paid expansions since it went f2p,

Can someone explain professions (aka crew skills) to me?

I am in a pickle. I really want to pick up all the professions to improve my artifice, to get free hilts and what not.

Is there any reason to do this? It seems like every character I play I am best off going slicing and treasure hunting and just living off of the boxes. Is this like World of Warcraft where you get 20% bonus to a certain skill and thus the skillpoints? Or does it boil down to credits in the end?

Credits.

Gathering skills feed your crafting skill. Last I heard, Biochem was the best moneymaker.
