swtch from nf2 to nf3

i have recenly (month ago) reformatted my hd with nf2 setup. i have new nf3 motherboard and cpu (winchester). i was told if i uninstall the nf2 chipset, swtch out mb and cpu and reboot with new mb and cpu that i wont have to reformat hard drive. can anyone verify this for me.
