Hey I just aquired a used CeLAN EtherSW 2400...its a switching hub.. SO I am assuming that its basically a switch. Now, I dont have any experience with these things and I was wondering, how do I configure the dang thing? Is there an ip for it that I can access like a router or what? How can I manage ip fowarding and whatnot? I went to the celan website but it sucks and is poorly managed and images and links dont work...I cant find the users manual anywhere.. I emailed them and the mailer daemon sent me my mail back.. So I dont know what to do.

Can anyone here help me?

Thanks so much

Is it a manageable switch? If it's just a switch then it's not a router. A switch is nothing but a smart hub, you should just be able to swap the two.

Check the networking forum.

no is a switching hub.. a "smart hub." basically its a switch. I want to know how to use it. I will ask in networking too. thanks twice 😉

of course.. I post in any other forum besides ATOT and I NEVER get replies!!!! seriously!!

*chuckles*

someone help!!!

There typically isn't any configuring to do on a switch at that price point. All a switch does is it directs traffic to the correct port instead of broadcasting it to all ports, which cuts down on collisions.

OH.... So I dont have to configure it at all?... This switching hub will auto configure the relationships between the ports and ips? (if that makes sense)
