Switching web hosts

I run an invision site (http://www.dmbforums.com), and am researching the possibility of switching hosts. We are currently being hosted by bluedomino (a former admin unwisely chose them to host our site), and have had constant problems with php uploads, and the site itself not loading.

I don't need a lot...right now we have as little as 50MB storage and 2GB transfer each month. I'd like to get more than that, obviously, and for a better price. From what I've seen that won't be hard to find.

We need PHP 4.1 or better and a relatively new version of MYSQL. Pretty typical stuff for a php forum site.

Another big thing would be actually getting the site transfered. Switching to bluedomino was a hassle, and they were very little help.

Anyway, thanks for any advice you may have.

I use Pair Networks I share the space with two other people. $30/month between the three of us for 700mb storage and 700mb/day transfer. Unlimited (i think) mail accounts, php support, crontab manager, database administration, and loads of other goodies.

You may want something a little smaller however.

dmbforums,

Hopefully you've learned a valuable lesson by now ... you get what you pay for.

Can you afford $6.95/mo for a quality web host with 500MB/20GB, cPanel and Fantastico? If your answer is yes then please PM me your name and e-mail address. I'll send you more details.

Unfortunately moving your forums from BlueDomino.com to another web host will not be easy since BD uses a custom control panel. It is possible but it most likely won't be easy. I would accept GideonX's generous offer to help you move your web site/forums.

If I were you, I would have left BlueDomino.com a long time ago. Go to WebHostingTalk.com and SEARCH for BlueDomino

Thanks for the offer RossMan. I've seen your posts around, and I know you provide quality service. We're going to go with TotalChoice for now, I believe. If we
get burned again, I'll look you up.

I did talk to GideonX, and he was a lot of help.

Also, I like your constant reminder that you get what you pay for. Ironically, I was paying a lot more than what you are offering, and got much worse service. ;)

It always holds 100% true. However just because you're paying oodles of $$$ doesn't automatically mean you'll receive the best quality and support.

One day you'll learn this, the hard way :(
