Switching Web Hosts

So I have a site with a webhost right now and I'm looking to switch to hosts that are cheaper and have more functionality. When I put in the request to change hosts to my current host they wanted the name of the DNS server.

Does that mean the name of the new host? I'm probably going to switch to addaction.net. So can I just tell them 'Addaction.net'? Or if I sign up with addaction, will they tell me the name of the DNS server and then I would have to relay that information to my current host?

Thanks.

Sign up with th enew host and upload all the files for your site. When you sign up they will tell you the DNS servers name and give that to your old host.

Yep, your new DNS name servers will come in your "welcome to AddAction" e-mail.

Another question, this one a little more broad. Why does my old host need the DNS of my new host?

They probably were going to update the DNS entries.
