I'm currently on a different SETI team. I find Anand forums more to my taste and would like to switch.

Comments please.

I quit my old team to join TeAm Anandtech. Now it is your turn to do the same.

Not to encourage you one way or the other, but people are of their own free will to crunch for whatever reason and for whatever team that they choose! :D

That being said...we would love to have you on the TeAm! :D

P.S. The TeAm just had two major milestones....we crossed over to the #10 spot in the world...and we have our first 100K TeAmmate...as Robor crossed the 100k mark today! :D

Come on over...if you wish! ;)

Geniere,
There is nothing wrong with switching teams. We have even had members from our team switch to other teams. There isn't an unwriten rule that says you can't switch teams. You are allowed to crunch with whatever team you want.

Welcome to Anandtech forums and even if you don't change teams, stick around meet some new people.

Switching teams on your own is fine. What most people don't like is members of one team actively recruiting members of another team. If you want to join TeAm Anandtech we'd love to have you. :)

I find Anandtech forums more to my taste as well! If you feel the need to change to the TeAm you will be a welcomed addition:D
I really like TeAm Anandtechs members but that is not to say anything negative about the vast amount of other quality teams. If it feels right for you to join the TeAm then by all means do so. We would love to have you but at the same time I am sure your current team would hate to lose you.

As many have already pointed out there are people who join and leave teams for all sorts of reasons. If you feel you would be more comfortable here, then by all means climb aboard :D

It's not improper. Your old team should be thankful that you donated your CPU time to them for as long as you did and wish you well. It's your computer and you can crunch for whoever you want.

Hmm.. I can see both sides of the coin..

With RC5 it's rather irrelevant, as the units you crunch for the team stay with the team - I think there's some good reasons for that, amoung them being that there's no "I" in TEAM.

If you're not opposed to doing so, perhaps starting another account to join us would be in order? That way there's no hard feelings with the other team, and yet you cease production for them to join us. You can always switch the account(s) around later if you want, and it can be a fun to have multiple accounts on one or more teams.. I do. ;)

Oh, I only run ECCP as networkman well knows :) I didn't know that SETI changed all of your points from one team to the other. If that's the case I believe it would be appropriate to create a new account.

This is not true for ECCp. Points (now) stay with the handle that they were crunched under, wherever that handle decides to go.

I would like to welcome you to the forums and hope you decide to join the TeAm. No matter which way you decide(plain old just move or create new account) We will be more than happy to have you. Also remember to check out the various other teams we have here. Any of them would love to have you as a TeAmmate. This is definitely a great bunch of people I am sure you will love to spend time chatting with.

You can joined whichever team you want! It's a free world at least for now.
My feeling on the wus is they belong to you. You crunched them and you pay your light bill not a team, what you choose to do with them is your business!

I switched teams about a year ago because HWC was really starting to sux0r. After looking at other sites and lurking around this forum, I realized the people here knew their stuff and went out of their way to make it a great forum. The races are fun and really make you want to assimilate as many machines as possible. The recognition for jobs well done are unbelievable here, too.

You won't find better folks or a better DC forum than ATs, I guarantee it. :)

Thanks everyone. I'll make the switch. I do about 1 unit a day. When I retire next year, I'll build a crunching system. I haven't fully conceptualized this yet but I'm thinking of rack mounting 4 Mother boards and sharing a hard drive. I'll use simplist OS I can. I have two 1000w (33vdc,33amps) DC power supplies which I'll try to adapt by using regulating circuits to develope the various voltages.

So as not to re-invent the wheel, if anyone has done something similar, please let me know.

Thanks

If no one mentioned it, welcome to the TeAm!! :D
