Switching SIM from crap LG to 8100 Pearl

I popped the SIM in my new blackberry pearl, but the contacts didn't switch over.

I ran the blackberry setup, and it says "do you want to copy contacts from SIM?"

I push yes, but they still don't switch.

My best guess is that the LG is not storing your contacts on the SIM. So that's why they aren't there, and that's why the Blackberry can't find them.

See if you can find something buried in the LG menus that says something like copy contacts to/from SIM. Once they are on the SIM, then the Blackberry should find them.

If this doesn't work, then you'll have to transfer the contacts using an external program - like Outlook (or Outlook Express, or Yahoo Contacts, etc.). Plug the LG in, sync it to Outlook, swap SIMs, plug the Blackberrt in, sync contacts.

When I first switched from a Samsung D500 to a BB I had this exact issue.
