Switching over to AGP card in Windows 2000?

My system: Asus P5A (Socket 7), AMD K6-2-400, Windows 2000

This is how the problem started:

The system crashed. Message: boot sector virus suspected. Hard disk low level formatted. Reinstalled Win2K. Flashed bios. But system hangs at the same place during startup. Removed AGP video card (TNT2) & installed PCI card (ATI Mach 64). System works fine.

How do I switch over to AGP video? No matter what I tried, the system won't work with AGP video. (I tried 2 functional, different AGP cards.)

Thanks.

Check your BIOS, there should be an option to use as primary display either PCI or AGP, select AGP.

I did that, too. It didn't help. It seems to me (not much technically oriented) that AGP just stopped working. Does it make sense to anyone?

I have built several systems using that board. I have had quite a few problems with that board. It might be time for an upgrade. :)

Anyhow another suggestion you might try is changing the speed to 1X or 2X for the agp port.
