Switching out corp version number with retail/oem to be legal

OK...suppose someone was using the FCKGW version of XP Pro and wanted to change it to a purchased OEM or Retail version. Is there a way to do that short of formating.

I've tried the change the "oobtimer" and reset the key and that didn't work. Are there any other possibilites?

Thanks

you can't just change the key. "Corp" uses different keys. if you own a legal retail/oem CD, boot from it, choose repair, you'll have to put inyour CD key and activate it with MS, and it should work fine. reinstall your windows updates. If you want to stay corp and use a different cd key (equally illegal), this isn't a warez board.

How to change product key in XP with no re-install.:

1. Run regedit and go to: HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents, in the right pane double click on
"oobetimer" and change at least one digit of this value. This will deactivate windows. Exit regedit.

2. Choose run from start menu and type in this command: %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a to get the activation screen.
Go to the second option which is activate by phone. Click Next.

3. In the new screen choose the option to change product key, and type in the new product key (Corporate one only). You cannot use the FCKGW key.
Do not click Update.

4. Close that window, reboot your system and enter the command in step 2 again for the second time to verify your activation , you should see "Windows
Is Already Activated".

Budman:

I've tried this. It only works if you use another corp. number. I'm trying to enter a purchased legit OEM number.

I nedd a way to enterthe number without a complete format and reinstall.

Do what I said. Your apps will remain installed and you won't lose your data. You will lose any customizations you've done to your profile (as in, the windows theme - Luna, classic, etc). I've done it before.
