as the topic says, i'm switching, but i have over 9000 songs on a program called Creative media source, will the files on that program automatically switch over? or will i have to copy all 9000 some files over to a harddrive, and then dl some music software that is meant for that os? and will all of my word files, and everything, will they work with ubuntu's open office?

thanks in advance for all of the help.

O😵 shouldn't have any major problems with your word docs, how well the filters pull in the files depends on how extensive your formatting was though.

The songs I can't speak to because I have no idea what Creative Media Source is or what format your music is in.

Creative Media Source doesn't store the songs. They're on a hard drive somewhere as files. Those files are likely mp3s. mp3s are playable in linux by a variety of players (my favourite is amarok).

okay, great thanks. this is pushing it i know, but you wouldn't happen to know where the songs are stored on the hard drive?
i suppose i could just search...

thanks for all of the help.
