Finally tired of GoDaddy's crap - always having to look for coupons, etc. Right now there are ZERO coupons for renewals - all coupons are for new customers only. Okay, fine - you don't value me, I'm gone.

I am only transferring four domains right now, and at $8.25 per domain (with FREE privacy!!) that's $33.00 for all four, compare to $84 for GoDaddy.

Any reason I shouldn't go with Name.com??

I can't think of a single reason. Just curious here though, does the transfer include 1 year renewal as well?

yeah, i'm in the same situation, no godaddy renewal coupons at all except for a crappy 10%. I'm gonna transfer some of my domains over to namesilo.

Namecheap is pretty good too.

Godaddy is not a company you want to support anyway. The CEO has personally poached elephants (and who knows what other animals) and the company actually supported SOPA. They only stopped supporting it when they realized it was hitting their PR. You can google all this to find out more.

I've been with GoDaddy for quite some time and have wanted to switch. I'm also tired to chasing down coupons or having them auto renew at some crazy high price. Is it easy to change? Is you site down for any period of time when changing? What factors do you look for when changing or is it only price and convenience?

GoDaddy has horrid technical support, even the simple questions, they have no clue. They always try to blame the issue on me or say that can't be done.

i've had no issues with godaddy. i have 12 domains with them. what i recommend is renewing a domain for multiple years instead of just one and using a cashback site like mrrebates. I think it's around 8% cashback.

i also use namecheap. i have like 3 or 4 domains with them. they're also reliable.

you could probably use domain transfer offers and switch between those two every year. only problem is you'd have a little down time for your site.

Ive had a different experience. Ive been buying domain names and SSL certs through them since about 2008 and have loved their support. They actually answered the phone and helped me out.

I cant speak to any of the other crap about SOPA or whatnot.

Huh. I always get about 35% off renewals with godaddy without even trying. Sure, it's not renewing for $0.99, but then again NOBODY renews for $0.99. That's the hook.

The only issue I've every had with godaddy was that they lock expired domains for FAR longer than they are supposed to - something like 4 months as opposed to the roughly 3 weeks that their documentation says that they do.

Just transferred them. Piece of cake. Completed in less than 30 minutes. :)

I loved their support, too - always answered, techs more knowledgeable than most, short wait times. But once they started with the more-than-full-price for renewals while simultaneously offering cheap prices for new customers, that clinched it for me. Goodbye MF-ing GoDaddy!@!@!@! :p

The ONLY coupons now are for 15%. To renew 4 domains with privacy with GoDaddy would have been $84.00, vs. $33.00 with name.com. No brainer. :)
