Switching memory card ports

I just purchased 2 1gb memory cards, but they are 184 pin cards. The existing memory cards are 168 pin. The board has slots for these, so what do I change in my BIOS settings to use the 184 pin slots? If it helps, the mother board is a P4mm211 and I am running Windows XP.

I would just pop in the new memory and remove the old and power it up. The system may beep while it does its configuration but that should be about all that happens. Board takes either 168 or 184? Interesting.

I tried that, however instead of booting up, the monitor just displays a message saying "Out of range".

Actually I ran the scan on Crucial's website to gather information about my system, it says it is not capable of running both simultaneously, so I installed the new ones and removed the old ones, it still says out of range. I am very much a newbie when it comes to the diagnosis and repair of my system, even though I built it...lol, so forgive me if I don't know what a mobo jumper is.

You mean P4VMM2?
What revision, there's like 7 or 8 of them.

For revision number:

Edit:
Also you cannot use the 168 Pin SDR and 186 DDR memory at the same time. Its either one or the either. Also 2GB is the maximum supported memory for the board, so if you have 2x 1GB sticks for DDR, use the first two slots on the board. Then see if it boot correctly without it saying "out of range". If it still does, you may need to use CMOS reset jumper on the board to clear the cmos. I'd link to the manual but I would need to revision number :p so you can read the manual.

Well I did find out what to do. There were eight 10-pin jumpers that had to be moved, then move jbat1 to clear CMOS, however, just like someone else I read on this forum, the board was dead after the jumper change. I switched everything back to original, and still no video output. The thing is, with the old memory I took out, they were SDRAM and were in the 168 pin slots, and the new DDR 1gb cards were 184 so they had to go in the seccond set of slots. Right now I am using my laptop until I can either figure it out or just pull the hard drive and get another system. This was a home made Frankenstein of a computer anyway, and was my first attempt at building one as a novice. It gave me 4 good years so it's no huge loss. I didn't pay for any of the parts anyway...lol. I do wish to take a class though so I can build and work on my own systems.
