How many people have made the swtich from single core to dual core without reinstalling windows? Were there any problems with the OS recognizing both cores?

Thanks.

I just popped out the single core, put in the X2, windows updated itself automatically. I was only going to reinstall as a last resort. I think if your motherboard bios supports X2, you should be fine.

just popped it in, then manually (win2k) changed it to multi-processor. But I have to set affinity for some games.

yea, just pop it in see if windows recognizes it, make sure you have latest bios...if all else fails, reinstall.

I popped it in and it saw it immediately...just needed to make sure I was using a recognized dual core bios for the mobo and no problem...later on I had to install the X2 drivers to correct an issue with a game, but that can be added at anytime without reinstallation...

If you do have several issues in games when other are not I would recommend doing a fresh install, with latest official chipset and video drivers, along with X2 drivers....

Is Win2K a problem with dual core?
Does adding /uspmtimer to the boot.ini make a difference?
What games are you finding problematic?

I'm considering upgrading to x2 and use 2K quite a lot.
Cheers.
