On Tuesday I will be getting my Radeon 7500 and replacing my GF2 Pro with it. I have heard that there are some real issues involved here if I don't complete wipe out all traces of the NVidia drivers and registry entries. I have also heard that there is a program that can be used to do this but I am having a difficult time finding it. Can anyone here help me out with a link or a clue anyways?

Thanks in advance.

Don't know, but www.rage3d.com might be a good place to start. I think the name of the program is detinator destroyer or something like that.

Good luck and make sure to use the latest drivers from ati. Did you get one of the "built by ati" cards or by someone elses?

Go to add/remove programs and get rid of the Detonators. Then look in program files or where ever the driver was actually at and make sure the folder is deleted. Use regedit and go to Local Machine-system-currentcontrolset-service-class-display-0000 or 0001 and get rid of any registry entries there having anything to do with Nvidia. Than use "find" and type in NV*.* and delete anything found. Make sure you have your display adapter set to the standard display adapter vga. Now you are ready to load in the Radeon 7500. Can I ask why you switched from a Geforce Pro? Gaming performance isn't gonna show a big increase, but the Radeon 7500 does have other good 2D features.

The card is made by ATI not a third party. Except for Hercules I haven't heard many good things about 3rd Party ATI cards.

Thanks for the tips. If that's all I really have to do then I am all set. I have been all over the registry in the past. And to answer the question you asked me, I don't game heavily anymore and the Radeon 7500 is fast enough for what games I do play. Also, as you pointed out, the 7500 has superior 2D qualities.

I went from a CL GeForce2 Ultra to a 7500 with out any problems at all just by using the Windows add remove programs to uninstall the det drivers. All hell broke loose when i went from the 7500 to the 8500 though.

Add/remove programs should do fine and if it doesn't, searching your HD and registry for "NV", "nvidia" and "GeForce" and deleting everything you find (careful with the "nv" files, some of them are Microsoft ones, not nVidia ones!) will almost certainly do the trick.
