I've spent the last year and a half with a work iPhone, which I was then told would be fine for personal use. Lately I've been a bit paranoid, thinking our Finance department would start playing closer attention to bills, so I ordered a Samsung Omnia (since I prefer verizon) and a zune for my mp3s.. Geek cred in check or will I need to stop drinking lattes?

Sneaky questions not really meant for Off Topic: Since I don't have internet access at home yet (just moved), can I manage my zune on multiple computers, or is it locked to one pc (like itunes)? I'd like to visit my parents' tonight and join zune pass and load up some mp3s as well, then manage it from my home computer once I have net access. Possible?

Questions about phones AND Zunes go in Gadgets, Gear and Phones.

Omnia? Shoulda got the Touch Pro, or just waited for the TP2. I hate WinMo devices without actual buttons.

I figured that, based on me still having the iphone to supplement most browsing /email needs (unlimited data, not unlimited voice), that I should just opt for a free phone on Verizon. I'm mostly making sure that I don't receive or make personal calls on my work phone (even though I was told it's ok, leaner times = more scrutiny I think). I'll upgrade when either the Palm pre makes it to verizon or an adroid phone makes it over. Though the new HTC phone look amazing, so I'm not knocking the company at all.

Haven't received it yet, hopefully fedex drops it off tomorrow!

I'll post my thoughts in the gadget section once i receive it. My big decision right now is to try a cooked rom to get win mo 6.5 on it or to just leave it unhacked... I would hate to lose phone calls or functionality based on my desire for eye candy

why are you worried about the Finance department? are you saying you've been downloading apps and songs for personal use that cost $$ on the company's dime? if so, you should be fired

That stuff gets paid for with your iTunes account. Perhaps he's using a lot of minutes for personal calls, or he's using it for text messages.

Your zune account is good for 3 zune devices and 3 pcs. You can change one each per month.

Not at all - I have my own itunes account and any apps that were paid (I think only one, orbcast) was billed to me. I'm supremely ethical here at work, I just worry and am perhaps paranoid because we have a group bundle for talk minutes and a limited text messaging package. While we seem to have 20,000 roll over minutes I'm not exactly sure how many texts I'm allowed and IT doesn't seem to know or care either. Using it as my only phone means people text me and I text them back, and I don't want there ever to be a question about personal use vs. business use.

Again, our IT director said that he himself only has one phone (his corporate blackberry) and that they'd actually PREFER that we use it as our sole phone (so that we always have it on us), but I'm being extra careful...

ALSO, the ultimate reason is that AT&T service sucks and I barely get a signal in my new house, and I have a long love affair with Verizon Wireless.

Yep, it's primarily the texts that i worry about. I don't get or send many at all, but I don't want to raise any red flags at all during this economy

Yeah I can understand wanting to go back to Verizon... AT&T is a big downside for the iPhone. My wife loves my company-issued iPhone, but she refuses to leave Verizon. She's trying to figure out which phone to get now, and I think she has it narrowed down to the enV Touch.
