Switching faceplates of LiteOn CDRWs?

I have an quite unusual question...

I currently own a 24x LiteOn CDRW Black Bezel Color, which matches my computer case. I plan on getting the new 48x24x48 LiteOn CDRW (ETA July) but finding black CDRWs are so hard nowadays, especially for a 40x or 48x LiteOn. Anyways, my main question is is there any why to switch the faceplates only; meaning take out the black bezel one off my 24x and switch to my upcoming new 48x (white) CDRW?

On a side note, if anyone see the LiteOn 48x24x48 ( or even the currently available 48x12x48) in Black Bezel for sale, spot me a link please. :)

Thanks for any help...

You could purchase the Lite On 40x12x48 (black) from newegg for $82 plus $3 shipping here and then flash it to a 48x drive .. I would personally just leave it since I am not really into overclocking and I doubt the difference would be noticeable. Of course, if you are planning on making many future drive upgrades, I would invest in a new case. The regular 40x is $15 cheaper @ newegg, as well as the retail 48x being available in the beige color.

This is exactly why I will never buy a black or silver case. Hope that helps anyway. ;)

Thanks for the reply, but I did consider OC'n the 40x, but I rather not. I feel more comfortable buying a "real" black 48x.

About the case, I'm just tired of having a "plain" white case. Just a personal preference. ;)

But do you have any idea if I can "safety" take the black bezel faceplate off my 24x and put it on the 48x?
I don't want to try and finding out it cannot be put back together. lol :D

You should be able to switch the faceplates easily. I wouldn't expect to see black 48x drives from Lite-on for another month or so.

Will it work if I buy a drive and then use black spraypaint on it?
Are there any consequences from that? ;)

Don't use spray paint.

Instead use Vinyl Dye, it is made specially for plastics and rather than sitting on top of the plastic it actually changes the colour of the plastic and cannot be scratched off etc. I think places like PepBoys (or summin like that, i'm from the UK not US!) will do it :) Whatever it dyes the plastic rather than sittin on top of it :)
