I have a departing flight for the 26th.. It turns out I am able to leave a day earlier on the 25th. Does anyone know what the best and cheapest way to switch flights is?? Someone mentioned something about waiting at standby on the 25th but Im not sure what exactly they meant. If anyone can explain further Id really appreciate it. thanks

Call the airline & ask, most likely there will be a steep charge to switch. I was quoted $150 + the difference in fare (my 6+ week in advance tickets vs the day before price = $$$) by United.

I laughed at them & took my originally scheduled flight.

if you call and ask to switch they will charge you.. but if you show up on the 25th and see if they can wait you as standby that just means they will see if they hve any extra seats once the flight is boarded and if so they will start taking people from standby list.. and its free of charge since you already have the other ticket.

Well, my understanding is that, typically, standby only works on the same DATE as the original departure date.

But, worth at least a phone call.
