I'm switching my cell phone from T-mobile, I have a question, do you guys wait till near the end of your billing period before you cancel or it doesn't matter.

I heard that if I'm like 1 day in the billing period, I'll be charged for the entire month? Is that true?

I called and asked that my service be cancelled at the end of the billing period.

Typically something like that should be pro-rated, but it would probably be best if you... contacted T-mobile and asked ;)

Be careful about canceling your service. If the line you are moving to another carrier is the only one on the account then account should be closed on the day the line is ported over. I would call in a day or two later to confirm. If you cancel your service before your line is ported over then you may have to pay a reactivation fee and you will likely be out of service a day or more. Once your line is working on your new phone with the other carrier (you can make and receive phone calls) then you can cancel your service.

I'm not too worried about that. Why would I have to pay a reactivation fee anyway? I'm confused.

You may have to pay the fee if you cancel the line and then need to reactivate it before porting the number over.

If you port a number, it automatically cancels the account you are porting from.
