Hi, I just bought a new harddrive from frys. The maxtor diamondmax http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144421
I was wondering if I should change this to my boot drive. Would my bootup be faster or any mild-significant changes in load times? Or is this a really bad idea and a waste of time?
My current harddrive is a 250 WD its a 150sata 8mb, pretty plain.

Thanks for taking your time to read this, I = noob with harddrives.

Unless I missed something, the only difference I see is the extra cache.

I doubt it will do much. But having said that, if you had a copy Norton Ghost you could just clone the one to the other and be done with it fairly quickly (depending on the speed of your rig and the amount of data on the 250giger).

Yeah, do the clone and see if it works. The only issue is how valuable your time is. I have copied partitions over with partition magic and had it work some times, not others. If it doesn't, I say give up, it's likely not a big enough deal to worry about IMO.
