I've used a mac for over 3 years but I'm switching back now because I don't like the trend in apples computers. I primarily use a desktop which I am now installing windows 7 rc onto. I use a macbook when I'm out. (my next laptop will probably be a pc, but that hopefully won't come for a few years). I am trying to find some alternatives to an application and some of the mobile me services.
The application I need a replacement for is Mac DVDRipper Pro. Its a cheap $10 application that rips dvds to their video_ts folder. It works great with all dvds despite any anti copy measures. It always works for me without any hassle.
The mobileme services I need an alternative to are:
I need my contacts, calendar, and bookmarks synced between my computers and iphone ideally. I can settle for not having bookmarks synced with the computers if necessary. For those who don't know, I have heard the iphone can sync WebDAV calendars, although I am not entirely sure what that is.
I also need some type of synchronized storage like the idisk that works with both pc and mac. I need it to synchronize automatically and keep a copy on each computers local hard drive for use when not connected to the internet. alternatively, I can mount the idisk as a network drive in windows. Is there any way to sync it to have it automatically sync to an offline folder like it does under os x? That would let me keep mobile me and eliminate the need to find alternatives for anything else.
I would like all of these services to cost less than $100.00 a year combined if possible?
Thanks for reading. I hope this can be done.
