Switching back to stock cooling on 8800gt

I was wondering, if I want to put my stock cooler back onto my BFG 8800gt, can i simply use some Arctic Silver, or do i have to buy some thermal tape? The tape is kind of thick, does the heatsink take that into consideration or can i just screw it down and the AS will be good enough?

I don't see why AS wouldn't be fine? Why do you think it wouldn't be? The heatsink should physically touch the gpu core, so any thermal material will do, AS5 would be a good choice.
