Switched SIM cards ..

Hey all, had an older Nokia phone and just put it in my sisters (hand-me-down) samsung..

Phone works, shows the correct number, but shows my SIM card as empty?

What gives?

If I put it back in my other phone everything is good..

Is it possible I saved all of my contacts to my PHONE memory and not my SIM card?

Yes. I have to tell my T610 to transfer information to my SIM card. Otherwise it stays in memory. There may be an option on your Nokia, I don't remember about my 3390.

Hmm must not have noticed I was storing them to the phone and not the SIM..

I don't think I have that option.

😀

i think for most phones there are phone memory and then SIM memory. i also have the T610 and i switched recently. the numbers i stored on the phone carried over, but not a text message that my friend sent me that i saved on the SIM.

oh btw bornstar would you happen to know how to switch a text msg over?

Not a clue, I've never removed my SIM card from any of my phones.

Without reading the posts I'll assume you saved your phonebook to the PHONE memory, not the SIM memory. You will have to figure out how to transfer the numbers from the PHONE memory to the SIM card, then the numbers will transfer to the new phone.

Usually, with Nokia's, there's a CF-looking icon in the upper right-hand side of the screen when the listed phone number is saved in SIM memory, not PHONE memory

I don't think there is an option on my Nokia to transfer all phone memory to sim..

Might just have to do it by hand.

😕

there should be an option. search for a pdf manual for the phone.... from what i remember, old nokias usually require you to go into the contacts>copy>phone to sim... thats my guess.
