Hey guys,

I had to go from a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard to a Asus A8V-E. When i try to boot with the new mobo i get all the way to the screen that comes up w/ Loading XP, the screen flashes then just automatically reboots. I'm assuming this is due to driver compatability issues. I tried booting in Safe Mode but get the same results.

Is there any way i can salvage the install with the new motherboard?

Any help is appreciated. :)

You'll want to do a "repair install". You'll have to re-activate XP afterwards.

Edit >> Removed incorrect instruction

Hmm i booted from the disk but when i got to the recovery console it said it can't find any disk drives. Even though i see my Raptor being recognized by the BIOS.

you do not need the recovery console, you need the "Repair install" option. they are 2 diffrent things. see anonymouseuser's post for instructions on how to do so.

You need the drivers for your SATA controller. You will need to press F6 when prompted after booting from the Install Disk and insert a floppy with the drivers.

Hmm interesting.. I went into the Bios and by default the SATA was set by default as SATA RAID. I set it up for SATA IDE and it booted fine. Thanks for your help everyone. :)
