Switched LCDs, not BF2 doesn't open

I was having an issue before that I could not pinpoint. It was either the Vidcard, PSU, or monitor that was acting up. All components were fairly new and Asus Probe showed that the PSU is running fine. After playing BF2 for 30 or so minutes, the game would gradually slow down until it became very stuttery. At times, after long use, my LCD would start to dim and sometimes go blank, but everything else would be running fine. I realized that the extension cord that my PC was plugged into was plugged into another extension cord. The one my PC was attached to is fairly new, but the other extension cord was old, so I gave the new one its own outlet. I thought this solved the problem, but my LCD continued to act up. It would dim and then go blank. Strangely enough, turning off the LCD then turning it back on worked as a temporary fix. But dimming became more frequent afterwards. Games did eventually slow down again (the more 3D intensive ones that is). I swapped my LCD with another LCD (an older, crappier one), and the dimming stopped. But now, when I try to open BF2, it would go to a black screen and show the application as being opened. Then, it would close and I would see the desktop. Why would swapping LCDs cause BF2 to not open? What's going on?? I really need to get these problem solved. Or at least find out what's causing these problems.

My first guess as far as the app not opening would be that the video resolution is set too high in the game software. As far as the other symptoms...it's hard to say.

Maybe the LCD I swapped to doesn't like 1280 x 1024. I'll try dropping it. Sounds like that might be a fix.
