Ahh damn you! Lucky SOB. With that kind of upstream, I'd run my own BF2 server, and get < 5ms latency. :)

You lucky americans.

I live in mexico and pretty much the best you can get is crappy DSL.

Even if the down speeds are semi-decent my ping is horrendous. I don't play BF2 or any other 'twitch' game but I do play WoW and my ping always lingers between 150-200ms, if I'm lucky.

As I write this the tech from the phone company is accross the hall trying to figure out what the hell has been making my speeds and ping so crappy as of late :(

So your FIOS is which is also rated at 15MBps also does 13.5MBps instead.
Weird. My cable connection is also rated at 15MBps but it maxes out at 13.5 as well

Thats 1.75MBps down

I test my connection with ATI and Microsoft and it never fails.

In a few months (june-july), I'll be able to upgrade to a 30MBps for $55 a month. Righ now I'm paying $45

DSL is an old school technology and will fade quickly IMHO.

Then tell those jerks at InsightBB to offer a business class cable modem service that is ok with servers and has high reliability. :) InsightBB cannot touch Verizon in that regard.

Really? Tell me more. I'll switch if Insight offers me something good!

Unfortunate, but I guess it'll be competition to FIOS in 2007 or 2008.

I'm so jealous of you guys and your ridiculous broadband. Here in Colorado Springs, CO we have Adelphia (whos network Sucks) which is 1.5/256 standard, 3/512k for an extra $35/mo. Qwest DSL around here tops out at 1.5/896. Fortunately I am close to the CO and can get DSL at 6/1 if I go through another provider, but the pricing is steep.

In Denver, Comcast has something like 5mbps/512kbps for ~$40/mo ... and their network is 2983984x better than Adelphia's. I can't wait for their networks to merge here.

Sadly, I'm strongly contemplating setting up a wireless shot from my house to the datacenter to get cheaper & much better Internet. *sigh*

Once in a while i'll see it top out at 14.2Mbps but ~13.5 is the norm. I've never seen the upload higher then 1.76Mbps

Fios doesnt have any competition here at the same bandwidth so their next teir service 30/5Mbps is $179/mo. they are offering it for $55 on Long Island. I'm paying $44.99/mo for the 15/2 services.

Too bad we live in such a large country and pop is spread out. Otherwise we can afford better int connection. I believe some cities in Asia offer 50+mbps down for less than $30US/mo for residential use. I would also be thrilled to have 8 mbps down.

I get 3 Mb/s DSL at around 3/4.5 the cost of comparable service from the local cable and telephone service, from a smaller ISP, with no less reliability. I switched from cable long ago not for the price, but for reliability and related support issues that I was having. I think it'll be unfortunate to the general consumer/market if one technology, particularly a technology that's in the hands of a monopoly is dominant.

Yea 3rd-party DSL service that's cheap and good.

(5-6 Mb/s is available from all vendors here at around the same price (around double my price) but that's too much for my liking/needs/wants at present.)
