I used to have an HTC Vivid (android), but then upgraded to the Blackberry Q10 about 16 months ago for reasons of nostalgia. It's a superior phone that has a lack of everyday apps.

Well Samsung has this $200 guaranteed trade in if you pre-order the Note 4 so I jumped on it and traded in the HTC. It's still going on and now then even included the S5 in the promo.

After about 2 weeks of using the Note 4, here are my comments:

Note 4 Pros:

1. Battery life under normal use is better on the Note 4 than the BB even though the BB had a smaller screen. This is because the screen is on less because I can see more on the screen when I have it on and zoom in less.

2. It's nice to have my apps back. Banking on the mobile website is very limited. Trading is a nightmare at some brokerages.

3. The pen is fun to use sometimes.

Note 4 Cons:

A. I can't sit down comfortably with the Note 4 in my pocket because it is too tall. It fits fine when I'm standing though which was the only thing I tested when I was at the store.

B. I don't like the speaker. The Q10's stereo speakers at the bottom edge of the phone is the right way to do it.

C. I miss swiping the Q10's screen to turn it on. Hitting buttons is a hassle.

D. I don't like the Samsung apps that comes pre-installed and you can't delete.

E. The stock music player needs to be refined.

F. I miss the big red blinking light on my BB. Why are the notification lights on other smartphones so dim?

Final words: It's worth it for the $200 Samsung is guaranteeing for a trade in, but if I had to pay full price, I'd get a smaller phone.
