Switch to XP Pro or stay with 98SE??

Hi all,

I am wondering if I should upgrade my OS from Win98SE to XP Pro or just stay with 98SE. My System specs are:

P3 933MHz
128 MB PC133 CL2 Ram
Asus CUSL2
Built-in Video (i815, Don't Laugh I'm upgrading it soon)

I use the system for productivity and some gaming; therefore, is there anything to be gained by upgrading the OS or should I just spend the money on an upgraded system (I would like to upgrade all of it, but I currently do not have the cash for all that).

Thanks for all your help.

I would go with XP Pro, because when 3/3/03 comes Microsoft is going to stop supporting 98, ME, 2k. A very good friend of mine work's for a big Tech-support company and she told me about it. The main reason MS is doing this is to try to force people to switch to XP. Which means alot more money for them and to help with non-legit copy's of the OS'es out there.

I doubt that MS is going to stop supporting 2k all together in a few months. There are far too many people running 2k workstations and servers for them to do a stupid thing like that...

Techincally MS is discontinuing support for Windows 98 on 6/30/2003. If 98 had a life this long I can guarantee you that 2000 will go until at least sometime in late 2004. I wouldn't even think about ME, its an irrelevant and buggy OS IMHO. 2000 is a different story. Either way, grab at least 256MB of RAM for 2000, 512MB is a better fit for XP.

Go to XP (or 2000. it's pretty close and I guarantee you it's not going to be unsupported 3/3/2003 else there would be a LOT of p#ssed corporate and university customers who still use 2000).
