Switch to fx 8150 or keep 1090t?

I have crossfire 6870s, my 1090t is @ 4ghz, 2800nb, is there any benefits to switching to 8150 fx @ 4.7-4.8? I have rasa 360 water cooling. How many fps am i leaving unused due to my processor?

OMG no. Don't buy a Bulldozer.

Where is the "buy a 2500k" option? Or the "buy Ivy Bridge" option?

Your current CPU is fine for gaming aside from a few outside cases that Bulldozer will not fix. Going intel will fix it but at 4ghz you are doing well IMO.

Keep the 1090t if the option is to buy Faildozer. Unless you want to pay for a downgrade.

Else SB/IB if you want real performance.

Okay seriously though....it would help a bit if you could get a good OC out of the 8150, however, if you want to see more FPS improvement, you're going to want to go with Sandy or Ivy to really drive multiple video cards properly...

8150 would be a lame move for gaming -- slightly less so if you do lots of heavily threaded video or 3d work.

Seeing as how you're asking about FPS, it seems to me that it would be helpful if you mentioned what games you enjoy playing and at what resolution you play them.

If you are considering going BD because you have an AM3+ mobo, you might want to wait for Vishera. It should be AM3+, and since Trinity is looking to have IPC =~ Llano, Vishera should actually (finally) be faster per clock than stars, and should be able to clock higher too.

If you are planning on upgrading your mobo, then yeh, Intel is the way to go for gaming.

That being said, I'm doing well w/ my 1055t. Though I only have a 5670 😀

Bulldozer also uses a tremendous amount of power when overclocked. Over time it will cost way more to keep a bulldozer and you won't see any benefit.

Keep the Thuban and switch to the new FX with new cores that comes in Q3, stay away from Bulldozer FX chips for the time being.

Games don't even utilize all 6-cores of your processor now as it is, so why would upgrading to an inferior IPC 8-Core help?

Seriously, a 6-Core Thuban at 4GHz is no slouch for any game out there. Just wait it out till either Haswell or Piledriver.

yep dumb move, just make the switch to Ivy bridge or a 2500k dont even wait for pildedriver its just gonna be a thuban cpu (which you already have) with on board GPU. The upgrade year for AMD is definately gonna be next year, but by that time Haswell will destroy that.

I've seen 8120 as low as 139 and 8150 as low as 175. I love my crossfire setup, runs everything great at 1080p. I'll wait to see how Bulldozers replacement (piledriver cores) fair. I've been AMD for a very long time(since k6-2), i really don't want to jump ship, but intel is making it really hard at the moment. I've got a asrock 990fx board, so i'll hold out hope.

What games do you play and at what resolution/settings ??

Wait for Piledriver if you insist on sticking with AMD. Hopefully it'll perform well, like it's projected to.

Some will say: OMG no bUy faidozre its givses u lest fps in gaems1!! buy inTelr CpU noW, IVY IVY IVY

Others: I really do not recommend stepping down a level. Faildozer is known to fail, and it would be a grave, fatal mistake to buy one. At this point, any Intel CPU will "utterly destroy, annihilate, burn, rape, scorch, defile, curse, ransack, run circles around, scalp and murder" any CPU from AMD. Heck, even an old Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 beats the best AMD CPU "hands down".

I say: Wait for the new generation CPUs, no need to pay premium for a sidegrade, which is at this point the Bulldozer or any Intel CPU apart from their six core CPUs. There are faster Intel quads that are certainly not worth it from the pocket's perspective, so my suggestion stands - wait for the next generation.

good lcuk buY inteL !!!1

Ditch your mobo and get an i5 if better performance is what you're after, you'd be taking a step backwards feeding 2 gpu's with BD.
