switch question - will i get any performance/quality increase

moving from my existing LINKSYS EZXS88W(8 port) to a Cisco 2912MF or 2924M?

I do alot of streaming from my PCs to xbox & other media players.

another reason I want to upgrade is that i'm out of open ports and these Cisco switches are on the FS/FT.

any comments?

10/100 switches are cheap because gigabit is affordable, and assuming the obvious pre-conditions, easily out-performs it several times.

OTOH, for media streaming the data rates may be so low that even 100 Mb/s is overkill.
