Switch OS hdd from one pc to another question

My friend has a home built pc with a retail purchase of Windows OS license. I know I can move it to a new pc legally, but can I move it to a different pc and have it work properly. I am planning on moving it to an HP Elitedesk 800 G6 SFF. I have switched a pc from intel to amd and had no problems before. Not necessarily what people suggest, but it works great and has been for 3 years now.

I have never switched to a whole new type of pc though. Should it work with an HP, or because it is a prebuilt pc it may not work? Anyone ever try this before? Thanks.
