My old Tyan motherboard (S2865 - Nvidia nForce 4 Ultra chipset) stopped working, and it has a SATA RAID 5 set up.

I am looking to replace it with a Intel 5000X chipset motherboard.

The question is whether the new motherboard will recognize the old SATA RAID 5 set up?

Has anybody done this or similar before?

Will only Nvidia chipsets recognize the RAID set-up?

Thanks!

NF4 chipsets did not support RAID5. Your motherboard must have had an additional chipset onboard to provide RAID5 support. Find out, and then get a controller card with the same chipset, and it should recognize your raid array. (Many boards used a Silicon Image 3114 chipset. You can get a cheap Syba 4P 4-port SATA 3114 card at NewEgg for cheap. I have one running a RAID5 and it runs fine.)
