Ok, here's how my two systems are currently setup:
Desktop (used for gaming, regular computer use ie apps, web, music, occasional dvd watching)
Asus A7N8X
Barton 2500+
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200
2x80GB Maxtor SATA in RAID 0 (OS and games/apps)
1x80GB Maxtor IDE for storage
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Server (used for file storage, dvd ripping/encoding/burning)
Abit NF7
XP 1800+
512MB Samsung PC3200
36GB WD Raptor SATA (OS)
2x120GB WD IDE (File Storage)
1x120GB WD SATA (DVD ripping/encoding)
SATA is on an add-in SATA card
Would I be better off moving the raptor to my desktop system as the OS drive and move the 2x80GB RAID 0 array to my server to use it as the OS/dvd ripping/encoding drive?
The consensus I've gathered from other posts I've read lately is that this change would produce the biggest benefit for what I use each system for. Any input would be appreciated. And please, if you say yes or no, tell me why.
