WTF! I just got an email saying Vonage is raising their 500 minute plan to $17.99/mo.

Looks like this decision is getting easier by the day.

At Vonage, we're committed to providing exceptional phone service at a great value you can rely on. On December 1, 2008, the price of our Residential Basic 500 Minute Plan increased from $14.99 to $17.99. The new price will be reflected in your February 2009 bill. We're proud that we remain one of the most competitive choices among home phone providers.

Not sure if you are looking to save money or not, but we just got unlimited calls via AT&T for 30.00 a month. I'm not sure if that is a normal phone plan, or only possible when you sign up for u-verse (att's fiber to node service).

Yea, trying to save some money as we don't use it all that much. Thanks though.

wow, that sucks. I went with VoicePulse to give them a shot. I have only done limited testing as I haven't ported the number over yet. I need to get that started so we don't have too many overlapping service bills (just switched back to comcast too)

Not sure if anyone hit on this point, but if you have a smartphone or PDA, Skype makes a mobile client that you can use anywhere you can get a decent signal. I have an Axim and it works great when I'm on the road. People can also text you and they will sit in a queue until you are able to log back in.

I had SunRocket before they went Belly Up and switched to ViaTalk. $200 for 2 years is under $9/mo.

I've read good and horrible reviews on those magic Jack things. I think you can get them at radio shack and then you could return it if it didn't work or you didn't like it I guess...
