switch drivers from nvidia to amd

patches0001

hello, i have questions about drivers. i posted this question on another site but got conflicting advice.

i plan to replace my two 260's in sli mode with a r9 290. i understand i have to remove the nvidia drivers. when i checked the 'program and features' file there are four files with the name nvidia.

nvidia physx system software 9.13.1220
nvidia 3d vision controller driver 337.88
nvidia gforce experience 2.1.5
nvidia graphics driver 337.88

should i delete the nvidia drivers before i remove the 260's?

should i delete some or all of the nvidia files?

should i reboot before i install the amd drivers?

can i use the auto detect software on amd's site?

Just did what you want to, OP, but with different cards.

Just uninstalled all the Nvidia stuff, beginning with the Physx, then 3D, then Experience, then drivers. Shut down, pull old card, put in new, boot, load new drivers.

I've done this routine more than a few times in the last year or two with this particular OS install, never had a single problem.

I'd suggest first trying the simple way, using uninstall in the programs section of control panel.

If that fails, then try the DDU mentioned above, a program which was designed to be used in cases where the standard driver uninstall fails.
